Mme. Bjorlin, distinguished guests, and all trainees,
Good Morning!
The first Sino-Swedish CSR training programme begins today. This programme has received vigorous support of Mme. Bjorlin and the Embassy of Sweden in China. I, on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce of PRC, hereby express our heartfelt thanks to you all! And our warmest welcome to all the trainees participating in this programme!
The decision to enhance cooperation in the field of corporate social responsibility was initiated and promoted by government leaders of Sweden and China. During President Hu Jintao’s visit to Sweden in June last year, a “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Corporate Social Responsibility” was signed between the Ministry of Commerce of PRC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, on behalf of the governments of the two countries. This programme is held to put into practice the cooperation in CSR, as advocated by the government leaders of the two countries and proposed in the “Memorandum of Understanding”. The trainees come from relevant departments of the central government of China, local commerce departments, associations of various industries, and various Chambers of Commerce for Import and Export.
CSR contributes to scientific social development and a harmonious society, and is of great significance to comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of the economy. Sweden, with its well-developed market economy, leads the world in builiding CSR; while China, as a rapidly-growing emerging economy, is actively promoting CSR. We hope that all the trainees would make good use of this rare opportunity to learn from the advanced experience of Sweden in building CSR and establish contacts with the governmental departments, the business and academic communities of Sweden, to lay a sound foundation for China’s exploration for a CSR building modal that suits its national conditions.
